
Bowling Heads to Arkansas State for Mid-Winter Invite

JACKSONVILLE—Third-ranked Jax State bowling travels to Jonesboro, Ark. this weekend to take part in the Mid-Winter Invitational hosted by Arkansas State at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center.
Last weekend, the Gamecocks were champions of the Flyer Classic in Illinois with a 12-1 record. The lone team to beat Jax State head-to-head was sixth-ranked North Carolina A&T by the score of 1203-1112, but the Gamecocks knocked off the Aggies in the championship after falling behind three games to one in the Baker best of seven format.
Emma Yoder was the tournament MVP after posting a 235.2 average during traditional play. Dannielle Henderson also earned a spot on the all-tournament team with a 234.8 average which was second in the field.
It will be another weekend loaded with top competition as the Gamecocks will face seven Top 25 teams in their nine matches during play on Friday and Saturday. In Baker play on Friday, the Gamecocks will take on 11th-ranked LA Tech in their first game followed by top-ranked Nebraska, then will see eighth-ranked Sam Houston and fourth-ranked Arkansas State before closing out the day with Jackson State.
In traditional play, the day starts with second-ranked Vanderbilt followed by 13th-ranked McKendree. The Gamecocks will then face No. 17 UAB and Alabama State before heading into the bracket.
Last season, Jax State was fourth at this event, dropping three matches in bracket play after posting the second-best pinfall total after two days.
