Men's Tennis Falls in CUSA Semifinals to End Season

LYNCHBURG, VA. – Jacksonville State men's tennis had their season ended at the hands of Liberty Saturday afternoon in a 4-2 loss in the CUSA Tennis Championship Tournament. The Gamecocks were able to win the doubles point and add another point in singles thanks to a Marko Milosavljevic victory.
 
Milosavljevic and David Krasner's doubles court was the first match to end. Liberty's Joaquim Almeida and Siwanat Auytayakul defeated Krasner and Milosavljevic 6-3. On court two, Zach Murphy and Lucius Soller earned a 7-5 triumph over Carl Roothman and Trey Stinchcomb. Timo De Visser and Logan Haga clinched the doubles point thanks to a 7-5 win over Matija Samardzic and Ernst Gouws on court three.
 
In singles, Liberty tied it 1-1 after Chase Robinson beat Alin Fatu 6-2, 6-1 on court five. Almeida then put the Flames ahead 2-1 with his 6-4, 6-3 wins over De Visser on court one. Krasner fell in a hard-fought match against Rodrigo Santiago Arraez in three-sets. Krasner won the opening set 6-2 before Arraez turned the tables in the next two sets en route to a 6-2 second set win and a 6-4 third set win.
 
With the Gamecocks trailing 3-1, Milosavljevic kept the Gamecocks in it with a three-set victory over Auytayakul on court three. Auytayakul took the first set 6-4, but Milosavljevic took the second set 6-3. In the decisive third set, Milosavljevic won 6-4 to make it 3-2 in favor of Liberty. Charlie Penman and Roothman's match on court two was the match to end the contest.
 
Penman lost the first set in a tight 7-5 final. In the second set, Penman and Roothman battled until Penman came out victorious in tiebreakers by a score of 7-6 (8-6). In the third set, Roothman clinched the match win with a 6-2 win.
 
On court six, Aman Dahiya lost the opening set in tiebreakers 7-6 (12-10) to Samardzic. In the second, Dahiya won in a tiebreaker by a score of 7-6 (7-1). Samardzic was leading Dahiya 4-1 in the third when the match went unfinished.
 
The Gamecocks ended their season at 12-7, including a six-match winning streak to close out the regular season and a perfect 7-0 record at home.
