DALLAS – Following a season that earned him Conference USA Player of the Year honors, Jaron Pierre Jr. was named the Michael L. Slive Male Athlete of the Year on Wednesday, given to the best male athlete in CUSA determined by a vote of Conference USA athletic directors. Pierre helped lead Jax State to the CUSA title game and an NIT appearance last season.
 
The 2024-25 season marks the 22^nd season that CUSA honored Male and Female Athletes of the Year, and the eighth that the awards have been named in remembrance of CUSA's founding commissioner Mike Slive following his passing. The winners are determined by a vote of the conference's athletics directors. 

Pierre is just the third men's basketball player to earn honors in the history of the award, joining Javion Hamlet of North Texas and Christ Douglas-Roberts of Memphis.

Pierre also took home Conference USA Player of the Year Honors, as well as being named to the CUSA All-Tournament team and CUSA First Team All-Conference after leading the conference in scoring with 21.6 points per contest.
The New Orleans native scored in double figures in 35 of 36 contests this past season, including 23 occasions of 20 or more points.
