ONEONTA, Ala.—The Jax State men's golf team placed sixth in a field of 13 at the G-Mac Invitational hosted by UAB at Limestone Springs.
In the 54-hole event played over two days, the Gamecocks posted team scores of 280, 285, and 283 to finish eight over as a team and just two shots out of fourth and three shots out of the top three. North Alabama won the event at two-over.
Stanley Campbell was the top individual finisher on the team with a two-under total of 208, posting a three-under 67 to start, followed by a 72 and a 69 on Tuesday. Campbell carded an eagle on the 523-yard Par 5 eighth hole in the third round to play the front nine at one under. He was the co-leader in the field in Par 5 scoring with an average score of four on those holes, playing them at a total of six-under.
Ryley Heath was a shot back in 11
th place with rounds of 68, 71, and 70.
Will Drake took 26
th with a six-over total of 216 with rounds of 74, 69, and 73. Heath's 40 pars in 54 holes was tied for the most in the field. Drake posted six of his 10 birdies on the week during the second round.
Karel Marik was 33
rd after posting rounds of 71, 76, and 71.
Ben Shedd was 42
nd with a total of 221 with rounds of 74, 74, and 74.
Cole Lindeman played as an individual and took 62
nd with two rounds of 76 and closed with a 73.
