Men's and Women's Cross Country Ranked in Latest USTFCCCA Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The Jax State men's and women's cross country programs both made appearances on the USTFCCCA South Region Week 1 poll, released on Monday afternoon.

The men's cross country team led the way with a No. 12 ranking in the poll, paired with a No. 13 mark by the women's team. This week marks the 13th straight week that the men's program has been ranked in the top-15 of the poll.

The most recent poll marks the first time that both programs have been simultaneously ranked on the poll in the regular season since Week 4 of last season (Nov. 3) where the men's team was ranked No. 12 and the women's squad tabbed at No. 15.

The No. 13 mark for the women's team is the highest Week 1 regional ranking in program history, despite not being ranked in the preseason poll. As for the men's squad, it holds onto its same position after being ranked No. 12 in the preseason.

Both groups have gotten off to a hot start this season, most recently coming off of strong performances at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala. this past weekend. Facing multiple regional opponents such as Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, Central Florida and more, the men's team came away with a 6th place finish as a team out of 29 schools, with the women's unit placing 7th out of 31 schools.

Jax State Cross Country will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 2 for the Georgia Tech Invitational in Douglasville, Ga.Â
