Jacksonville State University is pleased to announce Cheer tryouts for the 2012-2013 academic year will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012, starting at 9:00 AM.
Our cheerleading program consists of two squads and 2 mascots. The Coed squad members and the 2 mascots are awarded scholarship money towards their university tuition. Cheer tryouts are for new and current cheerleaders. The Cheer squads cheer at all home football games, men’s and women’s basketball games, all Championship games, and at other requested events.
To be eligible to try out you must have applied and been unconditionally accepted by the university. A current student of Jacksonville State University must have a GPA of 2.25 or higher.
The tryouts will be held in the annex of Kennamer Hall on Saturday May 12, 2012 from 9am to 4 pm with a break from 12 noon to 2 p.m..
The 2012-2013 Jacksonville State University Cheerleader/Cocky Application, proof of insurance and medical release form must be received by the Athletic Department no later than Thursday MAY 10, 2012 to participate in tryouts. They can be mailed or hand delivered to:

You will not be allowed to participate in any aspect of the tryouts without these being on record in the Athletic Department before tryouts.
Please wear tennis shoes, that are appropriate for stunting, tennis style shorts, tee shirt in JSU colors NO insignias of outside affiliations (fraternities, sororities, clubs, high school logos, etc.) are permitted, no loose clothing is allowed. ABSOLUTELY NO jewelry or body piercings will be allowed. Tattoos should be covered up at all times. Short breaks will be taken feel free to bring bottle water.
Clinic/Tryouts will start on time. For proper consideration you should be at least 10 minutes early.
Tryouts are closed to the public.
You must be present at tryouts in order to make a squad. We will only accept videos in extreme circumstances and approval must be obtained in advanced by the Cheer Sponsor.
