Craig Schwartz

Craig Schwartz is in his first season as the Associate Head Coach for the Jacksonville State men's and women's tennis teams.

Jacksonville State tennis Head Coach Mike Mucci announced the hiring of Craig Schwartz as Associate Head Coach of the men's and women's tennis programs on Feb. 1, 2022.

Schwartz joins the Gamecocks with a plethora of Head Coaching experience and was most recently the Head Men's Tennis Coach at Appalachian State University from 2018-20, before the program was cut.

Prior to becoming the Head Coach at App. State in 2018, Schwartz served as the Head Coach at St. John's (2017-18), Bucknell (2013-16), Queens College (2007-12), and at Dowling College (2003-07).

During Schwartz's 18-plus years coaching collegiate tennis 40 players earned All-Conference awards.

While at Queen's College, Schwartz led the men's squad to five NCAA Division II tournament appearances and four Sweet 16's.

Mucci is ecstatic to bring Schwartz's pedigree and experience to the JSU campus.

"Getting Craig on staff as our Associate Head Coach was a no brainer and a steal of a hire," said Head Coach Mike Mucci. "His resume and success as a Head Coach at the Division I level speaks for itself. We are so excited to have him working with our guys and ladies on and off the court and help take JSU Tennis to the next level."

Schwartz played collegiate tennis for Dowling college from 1996-2000 and played on the No. 1 court for singles and doubles. He was a three-time Team MVP and NYCAC All-Conference selection. During his senior year Schwartz reached a No. 17 singles ranking in NCAA Division II and was named the ITA East Region Player of the Year. He graduated from Dowling in 2000 with a bachelor's in business administration.

Before taking his first collegiate coaching job, Schwartz was a professional tennis coach and coached Marlene Weingartner to a No. 36 ranking in 2003.
