JSU Women’s Basketball Travels To Arch Rival Troy

Game Notes | Live Stats

JACKSONVILLE
Jacksonville State tries to gain its first win of the season against its arch rival Troy University at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala., on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.

The Gamecocks and the Trojans meet for the 41st time in a rivalry that dates back to both schools days in the Gulf South Conference. Troy holds a 23-17 advantage in the series with JSU winning last year's meeting, 72-65, in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville State enters the Troy game with an 0-3 record following a 69-56 loss at Alabama A&M last Saturday. The last time a JSU team started a season 0-3 was in 2004-05, losing to Tulane Western Carolina and Utah Valley State.

The Gamecocks are led by Charlease Williams and Jolie Efezokhae. Williams is averaging 15 points per game and Efezokhae follows with 14 points per game and leads JSU with 6.7 rebounds per contest. Paris Hollingsworth has a team-high five blocks on the season, recording a career-high four against Alabama A&M. JSU's has had troubles  protecting the basketball, averaging 20 turnovers through three games for a minus-seven turnover margin while getting out rebounded by an average of seven boards per contest.

Troy evened their record at 1-1 with a 65-61 win over OVC member Austin Peay last Friday. Danielle Realph is averaging 10.5 points per contest while Brittnie Davis 10 points and six rebounds per contest. Kylie Morrissy is close behind with a 9.5 scoring norm and Donnette McNair is tied with Davis with six rebounds per game.

The Game will be carried on WLJS 91.9 FM with Mike Parris calling the play-by-play.
