JSU Football Begins Georgia Tech Game Plan

JACKSONVILLE – Head football coach Jack Crowe has now settled on his dress roster as the Gamecocks began to prepare for the season-opening game against Georgia Tech, which is 13 days away on August 28.
“We have settled on the playing depth chart, as opposed to a two-deep depth chart,” said the ninth year head coach following Thursday's practice. “It's an expansion in some areas and has the addition of quite a few first year players.”
Crowe announced that Marquise Ivory will begin the season as the back-up quarterback to Ryan Perrilloux. Crowe has decided to redshirt freshman quarterback Brooks Robinson, after a very competitive fall practice.
“Marquise is going to be our back-up quarterback to start the season,” Crowe said. “I do think that Brooks has been the biggest surprise of the entire fall. He is an extremely talented and effective quarterback and I think he can make a greater impact in his fifth year in our program.”
The Gamecocks worked for over 2 1/2 hours in the afternoon on Thursday and began installing the Georgia Tech game plan.
“Today, we started getting ready for Georgia Tech and that has some enormous challenges for us,” added Crowe. “Trying to match their offensive and defensive personnel is tough. They have three sure fire NFL first day draft choices on their front four and the skill and talent they have to execute their offense gives us unbelievable challenges.”
Crowe also announced that Tyler Ogletree, Deonte Carter, Alexander Henderson and Jared Stewart will all miss the season opener at Georgia Tech for violation of team policies that occurred during the spring.
Jacksonville State will practice at 3:30 on Friday before holding their final scrimmage on Saturday evening. Saturday's scrimmage is closed to the public and the media. A limited number of tickets still remain for the Georgia Tech game and fans can call the JSU Athletic Ticket Office at 256-782-8499 for more information.
