2009 OUTLOOK: Expected to lead the Gamecock defense after emerging as one of the top tacklers in the nation in his junior season…enters the fall as the starting Will Linebacker.
JSU CAREER:
2008: Started the final 10 games of the season as a junior and was a first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection…despite missing the first game, led the team and finished fifth in the OVC with 103 tackles, 52 solo…his 103 tackles tied for the eighth-highest single-season total in the JSU record books…averaged 10.3 tackles per game, which ranked 16th nationally…also forced two fumbles, recovered one and recorded two pass breakups…racked up nine tackles for a loss and a sack…recorded his fifth game with double figure tackles in the last six games, collecting 14, eight solos and a tackle for loss, against Tennessee State (11/15)...had four tackles, including one sack, and a pass break up against Tennessee Tech (11/8)...recorded his third straight game with double figure tackles, recording 12, eight solos, and a fumble recovery against Austin Peay (11/1)...posted his second straight game with 21 tackles, registering eight solos and 1 1/2 sacks against UT Martin (10/23)...recorded a career-high 21 tackles that included 16 solo tackles, versus Murray State (10/18)...named OVC Defensive Player of the Week (10/19)...tied a career-high with 11 stops, four solos, and a tackle for loss versus Eastern Kentucky (10/11)...led JSU with eight tackles, six solos, and a tackle behind the line against Southeast Missouri (10/4)...JSU’s third leading tackler with five stops, two solos, against Eastern Illinois (92/7)...also forced a fumble that stopped EIU’s opening drive of the game inside the JSU 20...had season-high four solo tackles against Chattanooga (9/20)...registered three tackles, two solo, seeing his first action of the season versus Alabama A&M (9/6).
2007: Played in eight of the Gamecocks’ 11 games as a sophomore and started five…despite missing a three-game stretch in the year due to injury, still finished fourth on the team in tackles with 51, 38 of which were solo…recorded three tackles for a loss, intercepted a pass and broke another up…tallied a season-high 11 tackles against Eastern Illinois on Nov. 10…had nine tackles at Southeast Missouri in the Nov. 17 finale…picked up eight stops in the UT Martin game on Oct. 4…picked off his interception at Austin Peay on ESPNU on Oct. 11, a game that also saw him record six tackles.
2006: Played in all 11 games as a freshman for the Gamecocks…finished with 27 tackles, including 14 solo stops…added two tackles for an eight yard loss…also had one fumble recovery and one quarterback hurry…posted his best game of the season in the OVC opener against Southeast Missouri State, where he finished with seven total tackles (3 solo) and one tackle for loss on 9/16…finished with six tackles in JSU’s 28-0 win at Eastern Kentucky on 9/30…added four tackles in the season-opener at Furman (9/2) and also against Murray State (10/5)…had one kick return in the season-finale at Eastern Illinois for a six yard return.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Mary G. Montgomery High School for Scott Lesley…was a four-year lettermen.
