
Parsons, Gamecocks Each Finish in Top 10

FINAL RESULTS
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Jacksonville State women's golf team climbed to 10th on the final day of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Oak Point Golf Club, while sophomore Maya Parsons finished in ninth in the 54-hole event.
After the second round was suspended by darkness on Sunday, the Gamecocks wrapped up the final few holes before playing the third and final round on Monday. They jumped two spots into 10th in the 17-team event, while Parsons used a solid finish to move into the top 10 of the 95-player field.
A native of Whitby, Ontario, Parsons birdied her final hole of the second round to cap a one-under 71 on the par-72, 5,906-yard layout. She then used a two-over 74 in the final round to shoot a 54-hole score of 220. Her four-over total was seven shots behind medalist Maria Jose Benavides of Campbell, who also claimed the team title by 21 shots over East Tennessee State. JSU ended the event with a 910.
Freshman Melani Sisto (75-73-78-226) ended the two-day tournament at 10 over par and in a tie for 30th place. Senior Ornella Arrizon (79-76-75-230) shaved shots off of her score in each round and finished tied for 50th, while fellow senior Luz Armijo-Fernandez (80-76-80-236) tied for 68th. Freshman Melania Bajo Geijo (82-78-78-238) rounded out the JSU lineup in a tie for 75th.
The tournament wrapped up the fall season for the Gamecocks, who will return to action in the spring.
