
Gamecocks Climb into 7th On Final Day of USA Invitational

FINAL RESULTS
MOBILE, Ala. – Senior Ornella Arrizon birdied two of her final six holes to card her second 78 in as many days and the Jacksonville State women's golf team jumped two spots to finish seventh in the South Alabama Women's Invitational on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks carded a final-round 311 on the par-72, 6,071-yard Azalea City Golf Course in the final round, improving their score by 14 shots from Monday's opening round. They finished with a 36-hole total of 636 to jump UAB and Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Kentucky in the 14-team field. Louisiana Monroe led the field with a 306 to lead host South Alabama for the team title.
Arrizon, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, finished with a 36-hole score of 156 to tie for 11th in the 74-player field. Junior Maya Parsons had the Gamecocks' low round on Tuesday with a four-over 76 that moved her into a tie for 21st with a two-round total of 159. Freshman Melania Bajo Geijo also tied for 2st after carding a 79 in the final round.
Senior Luz Armijo Fernandez shot a 78 on Tuesday to pull her into a tie for 35th, while freshman Melani Sisto's second-straight 85 tied her for 59th.
The Gamecocks will return to the links on March 3, when they begin the three-day Kiawah Island Intercollegiate at the Kiawah Island Resort.
