
Parsons Finishes Strong, Leads JSU To 10th Place Finish

FINAL RESULTS
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Sophomore Maya Parsons played her final 11 holes at two under to finish eighth and led the Jacksonville State women's golf team to a 10th-place finish at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Parsons fired a one-over 73 on the par-72, 6,001-yard Cougar Point Golf Course to climb from 17th place into a tie for eighth in the 172-player field. The Whitby, Ontario, native finished the 54-hole tournament with an eight-over 224, five shots behind medalist Julia Neumann from host College of Charleston.
The Gamecocks capped the 32-team event with a three-day total of 929 after shooting a final-round 315. No. 36 Campbell used its second-straight 299 on Tuesday to pass the host Cougars for the team title.
Senior Luz Armijo Fernandez shot a 78 to give her a 54-hole score of 234 and finish in a tie for 47th, while freshman Melani Sisto's 81 gives her a 235 and puts her in a tie for 52nd. Senior Ornella Arrizon carded an 84 to finish tied for 71st, while freshman Melania Bajo Geijo shot 83 and finished 123rd to round out the JSU lineup.
The Gamecocks will return to the links on March 25, when they begin play in the Georgia State John Kirk Panther Invitational at the Eagles Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga.
