2013 JSU FOOTBALL SCHEDULE (.pdf)
JACKSONVILLE – Six home games and road trips to Alabama State and Georgia State highlight the 2013 Jacksonville State football schedule, which was announced by JSU Athletics Director
Warren Koegel on Thurs
day.
The Gamecocks will open the Bill Clark era in Montgomery against FCS opponent Alabama State on
Aug. 31, and it is just 12 miles away from where Coach Clark coached Prattville High School into one of the top high school teams in the nation.
“The 2013 football season is going to be very exciting for the Gamecocks as we begin the Bill Clark coaching era,” Koegel said. “We feel like we have an exciting football schedule that offers our fans an excellent opportunity to see the Gamecocks in action with six home games and five close road trips to some excellent cities including Montgomery, Atlanta and Nashville.”
The season opener will be played in the brand new ASU Stadium, which opens for its first full football season this year after playing host to the Turkey Day Classic last
Thanksgiving. It marks the first time football has been played on the ASU campus since 1973 and the new stadium seats 26,500 fans.
Jacksonville State will play its home opener the following week on Sept. 7 against FCS opponent Jacksonville University, and will then host the second-oldest rivalry in school history in North Alabama on Sept. 14.
The Gamecocks travel to face
Sun Belt opponent Georgia State at the Georgia Dome on Sept. 21, before returning home to play Murray State on Sept. 28 in the Ohio Valley Conference opener.
JSU will open the month of October at UT Martin, before returning home to celebrate Homecoming the following week against Tennessee State on
Oct. 12. After back-to-back conference road games at Tennessee Tech (
Oct. 26) and Austin Peay (
Nov. 2), the Gamecocks will play two of their final three games at home.
The Gamecocks entertain Eastern Kentucky on
Nov. 9 as the Marching Southerners host their annual reunion, before traveling to Eastern Illinois on
Nov. 16. The final regular-season home game is scheduled on
Nov. 23 against Southeast Missouri State on Senior Day and Hall of Fame Weekend.
The six games at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium is the most regular-season home games since the Gamecocks played six during the 2005 regular-season. JSU also played six home games in 2010 after hosing Wofford in the second round of the NCAA Playoffs.
Jacksonville State will begin spring practice on
March 8, and will hold its annual J-Day spring game on Friday,
April 12. Football season tickets will go on-sale Monday,
March 18, and will be available through the JSU Athletic Ticket Office in Kennamer Hall or online at JSUGamecockSports.com.
