Jacksonville State's
Alan Bonner received an official invitation to the 2013 National Football League Combine on Thursday, which will be held in Indianapolis from Feb. 20-26.
Players from around the nation will go through various drills and workouts and try to impress scouts, coaches and general managers. While the NFL Combine is merely one aspect of the scouting process, it can often be a way for players to make a name for themselves.
The wide receivers will workout on Sunday, Feb. 24, along with quarterbacks and running backs.
The Newnan, Ga., native is Jacksonville State's all-time career leader in punt return yards (972) and punt returns (87), while ranking second on the career pass receiving yards (1,986) and pass receiving touchdowns with 20. He also set the school single-season record with 648 kick return yards on 25 returns during the 2010 season.
Bonner appeared in 44 games for the Gamecocks over a four year span starting as a true freshman in 2009 and earned a spot on the All-OVC Newcomer Team. He led Jax State in catches (50), receiving yards (859) and touchdowns (8) as a senior in 2012.
Bonner played in the inaugural Raycom All-Star Classic and was also invited to the Senior Bowl last month.
