Men's ResultsTALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Jacksonville State cross country teams wrapped up the 2014 season on Friday competing in the NCAA South Region, hosted by Florida State University.
The Gamecock women finished 29
th, while the men only had three runners competing and did not count in the team standings.
In the women's 6K, sophomore
Ju-ells McLeod led JSU in the final outing of the season as she covered the layout in 22:48.10. In her final competition in cross country, senior
Whitley Towns clocked a time of 23:07.2. Sophomore
Briana Jackson and freshmen
Dayja Simon and
Gina Carnovale rounded out the times for Jax State. Jackson crossed the finish line in 25:43.00, while Simon and Carnovale were right behind her at 26:27.00 and 27:05.40 respectively.
On the men's side, senior
Mickey Sanders closed out his Gamecock career at the NCAA meet with a time of 34:23.20. Sophomore
Stephen Payne posted a mark of 34:37.30.
Jordan Cummins, another senior on the men's squad, finished with a time of 35:09.60.
The women of Vanderbilt claimed the team title at the NCAA South Regional, while FSU's Colleen Quigley won medalist honors with a time of 19:17.00. The Rebels of Mississippi won the men's event with 52 total points. Auburn's Ty McCormack was the individual winner with a time of 30:08.30.
