Cross Country Preps for NCAA South Regional

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – For the second consecutive meet and third time this season, Jax State will run at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala. The Gamecocks ran in Huntsville last week at the CUSA Championship and also took part in the Southern Showcase earlier this season.

CUSA Championship Recap
In the Conference USA Championships on Nov. 1, Jax State finished third in the men's race and seventh in the women's race. The Jax State men took home third place for the second consecutive season while the women finished just 20 points out of fifth place. Jax State finished with six combined All-Conference honorees.

All-Conference Gamecocks
Jacksonville State cleaned up at the Conference USA Championships, taking home six All-Conference honors. Viola Jepleting and Jepkirui Kurgoi each earned honors in the women's race, placing eighth and 20th respectively. Four Gamecock men earned honors, led by Meshack Kosgei in 14th. Nelbat Kiprop Kirwa, Evan Allen and Mark Roper rounded up the awards on the women's side.

Gamecocks Clean Up CUSA Awards
Following a team sweep of the Upstate Invitational, Jax State freshmen Viola Jepleting and Nelbat Kiprop Kirwa were been named the Conference USA Freshmen of the Week. Jax State has now secured 10 Conference USA Weekly awards this season, including eight CUSA Freshman of the Week honors.

Upstate Champs
Jax State swept the team titles at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., while also earning an individual victory from freshman Viola Jepleting. It was the third, fourth and fifth total victories this season for Jax State, joining the men's team title and women's individual championship for Mercy Jebet at the Foothills Invitational.

Gamecocks Make Program History in USTFCCCA Rankings
Jacksonville State is ranked in both the Men's and Women's USTFCCCA South Region Rankings, being ranked 12th on the men's side and 15th in the women's ranking. This season is the first time the women have been ranked in a USTFCCCA Region Ranking and 12th is the highest ranking in program history for the men.
