JACKSONVILLE – After spending the Thanksgiving holiday in South Florida in the Florida Atlantic Thanksgiving Tournament, the Jacksonville State women's basketball team closes out the first month of the season against Brewton-Parker College on Tuesday night at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Tip off between the Gamecocks and the Barons, from Mount Vernon, Georgia, is set for 7 p.m.  Tickets are available on JSUGamecockSports.com.  Fans are encouraged to bring two canned food items to help support the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center's holiday food drive.  Fans who bring two canned food items will receive free admission to the contest.  JSU students and all fans 18 years old and younger get in free as well.

JSU posted a 1-1 mark in the FAU-hosted event with an opening round loss to the Owls last Friday and a bounce-back win over Florida A&M on Saturday in the consolation round.  The Gamecocks enter the eighth game in the month of November with an overall mark of 3-4.  The Barons, who compete on the NAIA level, have played three games so far on the season and have won a pair of games.  BPC has been idle since a Nov. 4 win over Thomas University.

Senior guard Briana Benson pushed her team-leading scoring average to 11.7 points per game after tallying back-to-back double figure scoring contests at FAU.  Benson registered a team-high 13 points against the Owls.  The Jonesboro, Georgia native added a game-high 15 points on Saturday versus FAMU.  Benson averaged 10.0 points per game last week, including 5.7 rebounds over the three-game span.  She ranks in the top-20 in the Ohio Valley Conference's individual scoring leaders list.  Benson ranks ninth in the league in three pointers per game at 2.0 per outing.

Junior transfer Kiandria 'Ki-Ki' Patterson has highlighted JSU's bench play as the East Mississippi Community College transfer ranks second on the team in scoring with 8.9 points per game.  Patterson was stellar off the bench last week with a pair of double figure scoring contests.  The Columbus, Mississippi product pitched in 14 points off the bench in JSU's last home contest against New Orleans and finished the week with 11 points versus FAMU.  Patterson finished the week 12-of-27 from the field, including 8-of-14 from three-point range.  Senior Lacey Buchanon recorded 14 second-half points against UNO and followed that feat with 12 points against FAU.  The Jacksonville, Alabama guard ranks third on the team in scoring.

As a team, Jax State enters the Tuesday tilt averaging 63.4 points per game.  The Gamecocks attribute that point total to their ability to knock down perimeter shots.  JSU averages 6.7 three pointers per game through the first seven games of the season and have carded double figure treys on two occasions.  JSU ranks second in the OVC in three point field goal percentage at .353 and fifth in treys made per game.

Following Tuesday's home contest, the Gamecocks will travel to Savannah, Georgia on Saturday to face Savannah State.
