CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Jacksonville State men's basketball team wraps up its Division I, non-conference schedule Wednesday as the Gamecocks take on Chattanooga at McKenzie Arena at 1 p.m.
JSU comes into the contest having won back-to-back road games. The Gamecocks topped Howard 72-59 to wrap up their tour of Washington, D.C., then defeated USC Upstate 67-66 in dramatic fashion with a last-second trey from Malcolm Drumwright. Sunday's win over Upstate improved JSU's record to one game over .500, giving the program seven wins prior to New Years for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
The Mocs are 8-3 and also wrap up their non-conference schedule tomorrow. Chattanooga is coming off a narrow 76-74 loss to Vanderbilt in Nashville - a defeat that snapped a five-game winning streak. UTC and JSU have shared one opponent, thus far: ULM. Chattanooga took Monroe down 79-52 in the Scenic City.
The last time the Gamecocks and Mocs met was Nov. 28, 2015 in Niceville, Fla., at the Emerald Coast Classic. Chattanooga edged Jacksonville State 62-52 to even the all-time series at 16-16.
