JACKSONVILLE -- The Jacksonville State men's basketball team travels to Cookeville, Tenn., for its lone Ohio Valley Conference matchup of the week Saturday to take on Tennessee Tech at 7: 30 p.m.
The Gamecocks (11-8, 3-1 OVC) picked up a win over Fort Valley State on Tuesday to round out round out non-conference play. The 81-69 victory gave the program its first .500 non-conference record since the 2012-13 season. Five Gamecocks scored 10 or more points, while Malcolm Drumwright, Christian Cunningham and Erik Durham each tallied double-doubles against the Wildcats.
Tennessee Tech (7-12, 3-1 OVC) enters the contest having on two of its last three to pull even with JSU in the OVC standings. The Golden Eagles earned an impressive 71-67 win over Murray State on Jan. 7 and defeated Austin Peay 76-67 two days prior. TTU fell 83-78 to Southeast Missouri on Jan. 14, suffering its first league loss. Tech's Aleksa Jugovic is averaging a whopping 15.9 points per game, ranking sixth in the OVC with 302 total points.

NOTEWORTHY
• The Golden Eagles hold a 17-11 advantage over the Gamecocks in the all-time series record. Since the 2012-13 season, Tennessee Tech has gone 6-2 against JSU. Jacksonville State won a meeting in 12-13, and its last win over the team from Cookeville came Valentine's Day of 2015 in an 82-68 victory at home. Tennessee Tech has won the last two games by a combined score of 140-128.
• Junior Malcolm Drumwright came within two assists of breaking the Gamecocks' Division I record for assists in a game vs. Fort Valley State. The guard dished out 12 helpers, becoming the first JSU player to have more than 10 assists in a game in over 200 games.
• For the first time in eight years, three Gamecocks recorded a double-double in the same game. Malcolm Drumwright (14 pts., 12 asst.), Erik Durham (12 pts., 14 reb.) and Christian Cunningham (17 pts., 12 reb.) accomplished the feat vs. Fort Valley State, becoming the first trio to do so since February 2009. The double-double for Drumwright was the first of this three-year career.
• The Gamecocks lead the OVC in three-point field goal percentage with a .394 clip, hitting 146 of 371 shots taken. They also own the conference's best rebounding defense, allowing just 31.9 boards per game. JSU's .470 field goal percentage is good for second in the league, and they own the third-best field goal percentage defense at .428.
• Junior Norbertas Giga and sophomore Christian Cunningham are each among the OVC's top 15 rebounders. Giga ranks fourth in defensive rebounds with 5.9 per game (112) and Cunningham is fifth in offensive rebounds with 2.8 per game (53). Cunningham has 155 total boards, making him the 42nd-best rebounder in the nation.
• The Gamecocks own the fourth-best RPI in the OVC at 150. Only Tennessee State, Belmont and UT Martin own better RPI rankings than Jacksonville State.
