JSU Hosts Alabama A&M Tuesday Night

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's basketball team will host in-state foe, Alabama A&M, at Pete Mathews Coliseum Tuesday night at 7 p.m.

The Gamecocks (5-3) return home after a four-game road swing that saw games in New Jersey, Louisiana and Ohio. Off to a strong start, JSU will look to improve to 4-1 on its home court where the only home setback so far has come at the hands of nationally-ranked Florida State.

Alabama A&M (4-3) enters The Pete having already faced three schools from the Ohio Valley Conference, with wins over Tennessee State and Murray State in its last game. The Bulldogs and Gamecocks haven't met since Nov. 2009 when JSU scored a 74-71 home victory, giving JSU a 9-2 series lead since moving to Division I in 1995.

Jax State is coming off a tough road loss at Miami (OH), where the Gamecocks lost for the first time this year after holding a halftime lead. The opposing Redhawks shot 47-percent from the field and managed to hold off a fierce JSU fourth-quarter rally that saw JSU cut the deficit to one in the final seconds, before falling 58-55.

Tuesday's game will be the final non-conference home action of the season. Fans unable to attend can watch the game on the OVC Digital Network with a link provided at JSUGamecockSports.com. The Gamecocks next outing at home will open conference play against Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 28 and 30.
