Final Round at Murray State Snowed Out, Gamecock Women Finish 7th

FINAL RESULTS
MURRAY, Ky. – Cold weather and snowy conditions canceled Saturday's final round of the Murray State Jan Weaver Invite, leaving the Jacksonville State women's golf team with a seventh place finish.
The Gamecocks wrapped up their regular season schedule at the Miller Memorial Golf Course, where they carded rounds of 299 and 308 in Friday's first two rounds. With the finish, JSU now turns its attention to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, which will get underway on April 16 in Muscle Shoals.
For the seventh time in her nine tournaments this season, junior Valentina Giraldo claimed a top-five finish, finishing fifth in the 92-player field. The Ibague, Colombia, native shot rounds of 73 and 75 on Friday to finish the 36-hole event with a 4-over 148.
She wraps up her pre-OVC Tournament schedule with a school-record five wins in just nine events, while also claiming a second, fifth and eighth-place finish.
Freshman Valentina Curet tied for 16thin the event, thanks to a 36-hole score of 150 that included rounds of 74 and 76 on Friday. Sophomore Chloe Borders turned in rounds of 78 and 77 in her 36-hole tournament, tying for 40thwith fellow sophomore Pia Ohlenbusch. Junior Paula Vega's 157 was built by an opening round 77 and an afternoon 80 that tied her for 51st.
Central Arkansas won the 14-team tournament with an 8-over 584, 13 shots better than host Murray State.
The Gamecocks will play the Schoolmaster Course at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail for the OVC Championship, with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
