JSU Falls on the Road at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. - Jacksonville State suffered its first setback of the season on Friday with a 1-0 loss to Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Georgia.

The Gamecocks had the offensive advantage throughout the contest as they had a plus-six shot advantage over the Eagles, who notched their first win of the season after falling in both outing in the opening weekend of action.

The Eagles posted the eventual game-winning goal early in the contest with a goal in the fifth minute of the match.  GS would weather an onslaught by JSU, who finished with 16 total shots.  The Eagles turned in 10 shots in the winning result.

GS's Morgan Boudreaux registered the first goal of the season for the Eagles.  Hallie Huff was credited with the assist on the lone scoring play of the night.  Both sides had six shot apiece in the opening half, but the Gamecocks delivered 10 toward the goal in the final 45 minutes, but could not get the equalizing goal.

JSU senior Madison Carruthers tallied a career-high seven shots in the setback, including three on goal chances.  Freshman Ali Thomas, junior Nadia Plawiuk and sophomore Alicia Pallister recorded two shots each.
