JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State cross country runners
Emily Sorrell and
Elizabeth Wetmore will race in this Friday's NCAA South Region Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Gamecock duo will compete in the regional as individuals in the women's 6K event that features 36 schools.
For Sorrell, a senior from Neosho, Mo., it marks her second-straight NCAA South Regional appearance after JSU's women's team earned a spot in the event last year. She finished with a time of 24:25.1 on the course last November. Wetmore, a freshman from Fort Myers, Fla., will return to her home state for her first regional appearance. Her best time of the season was a 19:57.9 5K in Atlanta's Wingfoot Classic. Friday's NCAA competition will mark her first collegiate 6k race.
The women's race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time at Florida State's home course. Live results will be available at JSUGamecockSports.com along with a streaming link from Flotrack which is a subscription-based video service.
