JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's basketball team takes to the road this weekend for a pair of key Ohio Valley Conference games at UT Martin and Southeast Missouri.
The Gamecocks (10-11, 4-6 OVC) will begin the road trip in Martin, Tenn., on Thursday in a 5:30 p.m. tip-off against the Skyhawks (15-6, 7-3 OVC). The weekend tilt will be the only meeting against both UTM and SEMO for Jax State this season, adding emphasis on postseason positioning.
JSU will look to keep momentum rolling from a double-digit victory over Austin Peay last Saturday. To do so, the Gamecocks will have to shake a 10-game skid to the Skyhawks that dates back to Feb. 11, 2010. JSU still leads the overall series, 18-17, since the two former Division II foes first met in 1985. JSU has been close to ending the streak with a program record 16 three-pointers in the 2016 meeting, and a three-point lead in the closing seconds of last year's meeting that saw UTM hit a desperation triple to force overtime.
On Saturday, JSU hits the road for Southeast Missouri in the first trip to the ShowMe Center since 2016. The Redhawks sit just ahead of the Gamecocks in the league standings, and pending Thursday's results across the conference, could make for a pivotal tipoff at 2 p.m. from Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Both games will stream on ESPN+ with live stats available on JSUGamecockSports.com.
