JACKSON, Miss. – The Jacksonville State men's tennis team pushed their winning streak to three matches with back-to-back wins over Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Gamecocks (3-0) began by sweeping MVS (0-2) 4-0 on Wednesday. JSU swept the doubles point and used just three singles points to put the Delta Devils away.

Aljaz Kaplja,
Jordi Blanchar and
Sergio Lizarraga each swept their matches with consecutive 6-0 scores to help the Gamecocks claim their second win of the season. On the doubles side, all three sets were 6-0 decisions. Lizarraga,
Joaquin Vallejo,
Ryosuke Sowa,
Agustin Suarez,
Anton Hjertquist and
Andrea Moro competed for the doubles point.

JSU improved to 3-0 Thursday with a 7-0 win over Alcorn State (1-8), downing the Braves 7-0.

The doubles teams of Vallejo and Lizarraga and No. 1, and
Guillermo Agost and Blanchar at No. 2 claimed the first point of the match. Lizarraga and Vallejo downed Santiago Rocca and Gjorgji Popovski 6-0, while Agost and Blanchar won 6-2 over Stojan Stojanovski and Kareem Bowe.

Agost won a nail-biter over Popovski in three sets at No. 1 singles. Despite dropping the first set 6-2, he put the Gamecocks up 2-0 with 6-3 and 10-1 wins in the last two stanzas.

Vallejo won 6-2 in straight sets at No. 2 and Vasilev won 6-1 in straight sets over Bowe at No. 4.
Thomas Norwood's three-set win over Santiago Rocca at No. 3 singles handed the Gamecocks the victory. Suarez and Moro won at No. 5 and No. 6 by default. Â

The Gamecocks wrap up their trip to Mississippi on Friday with a 1 p.m. matchup with Jackson State.
