LORMAN, Miss. – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season Thursday with a 6-1 victory at Alcorn State.

The Gamecocks (1-1) took the doubles point and three of the four singles matches, while the Braves (0-3) had to take forfeits at No. 5 and No. 6 due to a short roster.

Newcomer
Carolina Bulatovic and senior
Malin Buechner teamed up to blank Mikaela Konstantinov and T. Riley-Codrington at No. 1 doubles, and
Charlie Croteau and
Harriet Hamilton finished off doubles competition with a 6-1 win at No. 2.

In singles action, Hamilton shut out Riley-Codrington in straight sets to give Jax State its second point of the afternoon.
Dariana Prato, the newest addition to the JSU roster, followed up with a pair of 6-1 set victories over Aizat Zholdakyeva at No. 3 to secure the win.

Martina Zarza rounded out the scoring for the Gamecocks with a win in straight sets at No. 4, while Alcorn's Mikaela Konstantinov defeated Bulatovic at No. 1 for the Braves' lone point of the day.

Alessia Locati and Croteau came away with wins by forfeit in the final two lineup spots.

Thursday's men's tennis match with the Braves was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Gamecocks wrap up their trip to Mississippi on Friday Jan. 29 with a noon matchup at Jackson State. Jax State returns home Wednesday, Feb. 3 to host Auburn University at Montgomery at 2 p.m.
