Game Notes: Jacksonville State | Alabama
JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team prepares for one of its toughest tests of the season on Saturday when the Gamecocks visit No. 6 Alabama at Coleman Coliseum.
JSU (5-5) is coming off back-to-back home victories over LaGrange College and Florida International. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide (8-2) dropped just their second game of the season on Tuesday night at Memphis.
Alabama runs one of the fastest offenses in the nation, and regularly shooting from beyond the arc averaging 85.2 points per game. JSU is yet to allow more than 81 in any contest this season, and while they run a more traditional offense, the Gamecocks have found plenty of success from long range ranking 16th in the country in three-point percentage.
The Tide and Gamecocks will meet for the 15th all-time meeting on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. Alabama has been victories in 13 of the previous 14 matchups, and has won a dozen straight dating back to Jax State's lone win in the 1952-53 season.
Saturday's game will air on the SEC Network with Dave Neal and Pat Bradley calling the action. The game will simultaneous stream on the ESPN app, while Mike Parris will carry coverage over the air on the Gamecock Sports Network. The matchup with the sixth-ranked Crimson Tide marks the highest-ranked opponent JSU has faced in its Division I history. The previous best was second-seeded Louisville squad in the 2017 NCAA Tournament who entered postseason play ranked No. 9.
