BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Jacksonville State's Alexus Jimmerson's impressive week resulted in the senior earning the Ohio Valley Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
 
Jimmerson led the Gamecocks to a 4-1 week in both the circle and at the plate. The Jackson, Tenn., hit .579 at the plate, while going 3-0 with a 0.93 earned run average in the circle. She becomes Jacksonville State's first player to win both the Player and Pitcher of the Week in the same week.
 
Over five games at the plate, she had multiple hits in all games, extending her hitting streak to 10 games. She has also had at least one extra-base hit in all 10 of those games, including three doubles and three home runs last week. She drove in eight runs over the week, as well.
 
Jimmerson had two three-RBI games and a two-homer game to beat Austin Peay on Monday. She also scored at least once in four of the five games and posted a 1.211 slugging percentage and a .619 on-base percentage.
 
In the circle, she made three relief appearances for the Gamecocks and earned the win in all three. She threw a total of 15.0 innings in relief and held opposing batters to an .096 batting average. She allowed just two runs during the week.
 
Jimmerson and the Gamecocks will play a key OVC doubleheader at Tennessee Tech on Tuesday that will start at 3 p.m. CT.
