
Rifle Begins 2021-22 Campaign This Weekend in South Carolina

JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State rifle team will begin its 2021-22 schedule this weekend in Charleston, South Carolina for a pair of matches.
The Gamecocks will take on Wofford on Saturday in a neutral setting at The Citadel and will wrap up the first weekend of competition on Sunday against the Bulldogs. Live results can be followed on JSUGamecockSports.com.
JSU's docket features five outings at the Gamecock Rifle Range inside Rowe Hall on the Jax State campus. The Gamecocks will host The Citadel on October 10 and Georgia Southern on November 13 before the annual JSU Invitational on November 20-21 to wrap up the fall portion of the schedule.
Jax State will return from the semester break with a duel with Murray State on January 15 before making the return trip to Murray, Kentucky for the annual Withrow Invitational, hosted by the Racers. JSU's lone home outing of the semester will be against in-state foe UAB on February 5. The NCAA qualifier match will be contested at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.
Veteran head coach Ron Frost returns the nucleus of his squad from a season ago and added a few new pieces to the program. Frost will rely on returners Mackenzie Van Patten, Michael Dietz, Owen Goad, Taryn Granger and Kim Jettenberg.
Joining the Gamecocks' program as first-year shooters are Angus Babcock from Lithia Springs, Georgia, Clark McWhorter from Springville, Alabama and Jersey Wilson from Acworth, Georgia.
