JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville State soccer team picked up its second draw in ASUN Conference action with a scoreless contest with Jacksonville on Tuesday afternoon.

JSU moved to 3-12-2 overall and 1-6-2 in the league, while JU posted its fifth draw of the season and stands at 5-4-5 on the season and 2-4-3 against the ASUN heading into the final match of the regular season. Both squads will have a quick turnaround for the final match of the regular season as the Gamecocks travel to the Music City on Friday evening against Lipscomb. Match time in Nashville, Tennessee is set for 6 p.m.

In a defensive stalwart, both teams combined for 15 shots with the Dolphins having an 11-4 edge in the department. Jax State had three shots in the first 45 minutes and was limited to one scoring opportunity in the second half. JSU weathered JU's seven shots in the first half and held the home side to four chances in the second half.
"It was an excellent team performance and the girls fought and scrapped for every ball," said head coach Neil Macdonald.

One key in the match and a staple for the 2022 Gamecock side has been the play n the defensive side of the ball. JSU secured its third shutout of the season with the strong play of the defensive back line. JSU held JU scoreless for the fourth time this season.

"I thought Brookelyn Still and Briana Eads were absolute rocks at the back for us," added Macdonald. "They didn't give their forwards anything to work with."

Freshman goalkeeper Bailey Dean picked up her first career blanking with four saves in the contest.

Junior Kylie Wells pushed her season's shot mark to 39 with two more attempts on Tuesday. Junior Vanessa Mejia and freshman Birta Birgisdóttir had a shot each. JU's Selma Fohrer fired a match-high five shots.
