HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Jacksonville State women's golf team will wrap up its fall schedule this week, when it competes in Southern Miss' The Judson.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will begin with 36 holes on Monday and will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday on the par-72, 6,136-yard Hattiesburg Country Club. The Gamecocks will compete against host Southern Miss, South Alabama, Belmont, Western Illinois, FAU, UAB, ULM, Central Arkansas and Cincinnati.
The tournament will be the fifth and final one for the Gamecocks this fall, its first fall season under new head coach Robbie Fields. His team looks to build off of the momentum from the final two rounds of last week's Charlotte invitational that jumped them JSU into a seventh-place finish.
Senior Claire Vermette will occupy the Gamecocks' No. 1 spot in the lineup for the fifth time in five tournaments this season. The native of St. Petersburg, Fla., her 75.25 scoring average leads the team, and she has been the team's top finisher in three of its four fall events.
Redshirt freshman Aaron Whitley will play in the No. 2 spot for Jax State this week. The native of Osprey, Fla., finds herself back in the lineup after solid play as an individual at last week's Charlotte, Invitational.
Sophomore Paula Perez Cubinas will play in the No. 3 spot, while freshmen Ebby Somers and Luciana Calbimonte will occupy the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Fellow freshman Anna Ymbern Quinoa will play as an individual.
JSU will be paired with Belmont and players from USM and Cincinnati in Monday's first two rounds and will begin play with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
