Jacksonville – The Jacksonville State women's tennis team earned a pair of wins on Friday, defeating Alabama A&M 6-1 and St. Thomas 5-2 at home.
JSU earned back-to-back wins on Friday and improved to 4-5 overall on the season.
The Gamecocks opened the first match of the afternoon against Alabama A&M with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Sophomore
Anna Syrova and senior
Balsen Kaya defeated the Bulldogs 6-3 to opens doubles competition. Darianna Prato and
Ella Tuomela clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win in the second flight.
JSU opened singles play with three straight wins from the second, sixth and fourth flights, respectively, as Syrova,
Kennedi Jones and Tuomela each added victories. Tuomela's 6-0, 6-3 win on theNo.4 court clinched the match win. Prato scored a fifth point for JSU with her 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot.
Romane Mosse added the final point 6-5, 5-7, 1-0 (8) in the final match against the Bulldogs.
Following the win over the Bulldogs, the Gamecocks opened the match against St. Thomas with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the point.

In singles play, Freshman
Ella Tuomela opened with her sixth win of the season by defeating Nicole Snezho, 6-3, 6-0. Mosse won 6-3, 6-2 in the first flight and Syrova earned a 7-5, 6-1 win in the second flight to clinch the match point. Singles play finished out after the match was clinched and Kenndi Jones added the fifth point for JSU with a 7-5, 6-0 win on the No. 6 court.
Up next the Gamecocks will take on Samford on Mar. 4 at 1:30 p.m. in Jacksonville, Alabama.
