JACKSONVILLE – The JSU women's tennis team fell short to six-time defending ASUN Champion North Florida, 7-0, in ASUN conference action on Friday.
North Florida (9-8, 3-1) opened the match with wins in No. 3 and No. 1 doubles for the doubles point over JSU (6-10, 2-3). The No. 2 doubles match went unfinished.
In singles play JSU held leads on a few courts early on but fell short in all six matches. Freshman
Zuzana Pavelekova forced a tie-break in the first set but lost, 7-6 (2), and dropped the match with a 6-1 defeat in the second set. JSU's leader in wins on the year,
Anna Syrova, battled in the No. 2 position with the Osprey's but lost 6-4, 6-4.
JSU will return to the JSU Tennis Courts on Sunday, April 3, with a match against Stetson at 10 a.m. and celebrate Senior Day.
