NASHVILLE – Seniors
Karsen Mosley and
Sidney Wagnon each drove in three RBI and Jacksonville State rallied from an early deficit to clinch the series with a 6-5 win over Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon.
Mosley finished 2-for-4 on the day and slugged JSU's only homer of the afternoon in the third. However, it was her two-out infield single in the sixth that plated Wagnon for the go-ahead run that become the game-winner after Sarah Curry retired the final six outs facing only seven Bisons.
Curry picked up the win to improve to 10-5 on the season after entering midway through the contest. She allowed just one hit and no runs in her 3.1 relief innings.
Kat Carter made the start for JSU, but allowed five runs in her 3.2 innings of work.
JSU (25-16, 9-6 ASUN) clinches the series over LU (16-25, 6-9 ASUN) after the teams split Friday's doubleheader.
Most of the Bisons damage came early with an RBI double in the first and an RBI double and triple in the second to make it a 3-0 score heading to the third. Freshman
Hannah Buffington started the rally drawing a leadoff walk, and later stood at third after
Abbi Perkins and
Keeli Bobbitt also reached safely. Wagnon stood in with the based loaded and brought everyone home driving a 2-2 pitch to left field. Then tied, Mosley followed with a home run to bring Wagnon across the plate and the Gamecocks led 5-3.
Lipscomb pulled back even with a two-out double in the fourth to plate a pair of Bisons, before the two sides settled in for a few innings until Mosley's key shot in the sixth.
The Gamecocks are at Auburn on Tuesday night before returning to University Field for a three-games series against North Alabama next weekend.
