JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's team dropped a road match Friday morning, 6-1, to Kennesaw State.
JSU (6-12, 2-5) fell behind to the Owls (12-5, 2-4) in doubles play and were unable to pick up enough points throughout singles play. With the loss JSU drops from sixth in the conference standings to eighth, with just two ASUN matches remaining.
In doubles play, Kennesaw State earned wins in the first and second flights to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Owls added a win in the first singles flight to lead 2-0 in the match. JSU sophomore
Anna Syrova added the only point for JSU with a 6-2, 6-3, win at No. 2 singles, her 11th win of the year. The Owls clinched the match win with victories in the sixth and fourth flights, respectively.
Up next, JSU will continue the road trip Sunday, April 10, against Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla., at 12 p.m.
