Jax State Aims For Big Day at NCAA XC South Regional

GAINESVILLE – Closing out the program's best season in years, Jax State's men's and women's cross country teams prepare for the NCAA South Regional race at the Mark Bostic Golf Course in Gainesville, Florida.
Both Gamecock teams turned in their best conference championship team results in more than a decade two weeks ago at the Conference USA Championships in Bowling Green, Ky. While Jax State has sent individuals to regional competition in recent years, head coach Jeremy Provence's first season sees a change with both squads sending a complete lineup of at least five competitors.

Senior Sierra Wainer will race in her third-straight NCAA South Regional, while junior Bethelhem Manzano Jimeno and sophomore Anna Strickland will each make their second appearances. Lindsay Fletch and senior Juliana Ballew will round out the Gamecock quarter in Florida. The women will leave from starting box No. 32 for the 6K championship.
The women's championship is set to start at 8:30 a.m. Eastern/7:30 CT followed by the men's 10K at 9:30 ET/8:30 CT.
The men begin their championship run out of box No. 16 nestled directly between Florida and Georgia.
One year ago, rain took over the NCAA South Regional held at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala., then-freshman Jack Lowe manager the cross the wet and sloppy course in an impressive 33:15 time to lead Steele Joiner, Sam Green and Mason McMahon. Fraga and Boyd were unable to complete the 10K last year.
