
Jax State To Open Spring Season At The Atlantic Invitational

BOYNTON Beach, Fla. – Jacksonville State women's golf will get the spring portion of its season underway on Monday, when the Gamecocks tee off in The Atlantic Invitational.
Jax State begins its six-event spring schedule with the event hosted by Florida Atlantic, which will be played over 54 holes on the par-71, 5,840-yard West Course at Indian Spring Country Club. Twelve teams will compete over two days, playing 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks will square off against current ASUN foes Florida Gulf Coast, Queens and Stetson in a field that will also feature host FAU, Georgia State, Troy, Murray State, Georgetown, Northern Illinois, Texas A&M-Commerce and Quinnipiac. They are paired with FAU and Georgia State on Monday.
All players will tee off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET on Monday. Senior Claire Vermette will occupy the No. 1 spot for the Gamecocks for the sixth time in six events this season. The team's lone senior and native of St. Petersburg, Fla., led Jax State in the fall with a 74.6 scoring average and posted her best finish of the fall – second at The Judson – to finish her fall schedule. She will tee off on the first hole.
Redshirt freshman Aaron Whitley will start on the second hole, while true freshman Anna Ymbern Quinoa, sophomore Paula Perez Cubinas and freshman Ebby Somers will tee off on the third, fourth and fifth holes, respectively.
The event will be the first of three-straight for the Gamecocks in the Sunshine State. They will also play in the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville on March 6-7 and will compete in FGCU's Spring Break Shootout in Dade City on March 27-28.
