JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State men's tennis rolled to their fourth consecutive victory in Saturday's 6-1 triumph over Young Harris at the JSU Tennis Courts. The Gamecocks dominated from the opening serve in an impressive home win against a solid Division II opponent.

"I'm very happy with our performance today," Jacksonville State men's tennis associate head coach
Trey Morris said. "I felt that we got better in a couple of things. Today was also a great opportunity for guys to step up who maybe haven't gotten the opportunities so far this year, and they did. I'm happy to see the depth of our program and team be on display today.

"I'm really excited as we look towards Alabama tomorrow, having a chance to compete and hopefully get a result," Morris said.

Jax State (4-1) tallied two decisive doubles wins to earn the match's first point against the Mountain Lions (1-1).
Vanja Dobrnjac and
Lucius Soller cruised to a 6-0 doubles victory while
Konstantin Benneman and
Logan Haga scored a 6-1 triumph in their flight to secure the point.

Xavier Sarda Marti responded well after dropping his doubles contest by posting a 6-4, 6-1, decision in the first singles flight. After falling on the third court, Jacksonville State got singles wins from Haga (6-2, 6-1) and Benneman (6-3, 6-4) to finalize the match victory. Dobrnjac (6-2, 7-5) and
Lucius Soller (5-2, 7-6 [8-6]) added triumphs for good measure to close out the friendly matchup.

As Morris alluded to after the match, Jax State will not have much time to gloat about Saturday's win. They will play what is likely their toughest opponent of the regular season on Sunday in the undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0).
The Gamecocks will meet the Tide at 4 p.m. Sunday after Alabama finishes their morning match with Ivy League member Columbia. Links to follow along with live stats and/or watch that showdown in Tuscaloosa will be provided at JSUGamecockSports.com.
