
Jax State Heads To Sunshine State For Third-Straight Event

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Jacksonville State women's golf team returns to the Sunshine State for the third time this spring to compete in Western Kentucky's Spring Break Shootout starting Monday.
The Gamecocks, who are playing their practice round on the par-71, 6,040-yard Lake Jovita Golf Club on Sunday, will begin play in the 54-hole event with 36 holes on Monday. The 16-team field will play the final round on Tuesday.
Jax State has been on the Florida circuit so far in its spring season. The Gamecocks opened the spring at The Atlantic Invitational in Boynton Beach and then competed in the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville last week. This week will be their final trip to Florida this season.
The field will feature three ASUN teams in Jax State, Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson, while future Conference USA foe WKU will play and host the event. The Gamecocks will also face Akron, Arkansas State, Ball State, Butler, Loyola Chicago, Morehead State, Oakland, Ohio, Seminole State, St. John's, Toledo and Troy.
The Gamecocks will be paired with Seminole State and Butler in Monday's first two rounds and will begin play with a shotgun start at 8:45 am ET on holes No. 7-9.
Senior Claire Vermette will lead the Jax State lineup once again, while freshman Anna Ymbern Quinoa will occupy the No. 2 spot as play begins on Monday. Sophomore Paula Perez Cubinas will play No. 3, while freshman Ebby Somers will be No. 4 and redshirt-freshman Aaron Whitley No. 5.
