
Gamecocks Begin Final Month of Season at Georgia State

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – With Spring Break wrapping up for the Jax State women's golf team, the Gamecock begin their final month of the 2023 season by competing in Georgia State's Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
Jax State will play 54 holes on the Rivermont Golf Club, beginning with 36 holes on Monday and concluding with the final round on Tuesday. The par-72, 6,170-yard layout will host a field of 16 teams, including a pair of Top-100 squads in ASUN Conference foe Lipscomb and host GSU.
The Gamecocks rank in the middle of the 16 teams, according to the latest GolfStat Rankings. The highly competitive field will include Western Carolina, Boston College, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Troy, Eastern Kentucky, Seton Hall, Murray State, Bradley, Albany, Eastern Michigan, Dayton and Appalachian State.
The Gamecocks' lineup will feature the same five players for the fourth-straight event, with the team's lone upperclassman occupying the No. 1 spot for the ninth time in as many events this season. Senior Claire Vermette will lead her team at the GSU and will be seeking her fifth-straight Top-10 finish.
Sophomore Paula Perez Cubinas will play in the No. 2 spot for the Gamecocks, with freshman Anna Ymbern Quinoa in the No. 3 spot. Freshman Ebby Somers will be the Gamecocks' No. 4 player in the event, with redshirt freshman Aaron Whitley getting the team started on Monday from the fifth position.
