JACKSONVILLE – Gamecock women's tennis dropped Saturday's match against a strong Chattanooga squad at the JSU Tennis Courts. Jacksonville State fell 4-1 to the Mocs, marking their first home loss of the season. 
 
"Today we lost a heartbreaking doubles point and just never really recovered mentally or emotionally," head coach Mike Mucci said. "Credit to Chattanooga for just playing level-headed and tough the whole match. We need to improve our discipline and will to fight through the tough moments if we want to achieve our goals."
 
Jax State (9-3) fell behind early in Calhoun County. After Zuzana Pavelekova and Anna Syrova earned a 6-2 triumph on court two, Chattanooga (10-1) earned wins in the first and third doubles flights to win the opening point. The decisive triumph came on court one, as Romane Mosse and Polina Ramenskaja fell just short in a 7-5 setback. 
 
The Mocs continued to flex their muscles in one-on-one action. They picked up two impressive two-set victories in the no. 4 and no. 6 singles matchups before Anna Syrova tallied a 6-2, 6-0, decision on court three. Unfortunately, UTC clinched the match with a win in the second singles flight, ended Saturday's test at the JSU Tennis Courts. 
 
Jacksonville State will finish their week of work with a road match at Alabama A&M on Sunday morning. First serve is set for 11 a.m. and the men's match in Huntsville will follow. Links to follow along with live stats will be provided at JSUGamecockSports.com.
