JACKSONVILLE – Senior outfielder
T.J. Reeves collected another postseason season honor on Tuesday as a member of the 2023 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Southeast All-Region Second Team, announced by the organization.
Reeves, from Birmingham, Alabama, capped off his collegiate career with prolific offensive numbers that led him to being a two-time All-ASUN selection as a junior in 2022 and this past season after accumulating a .366 batting average. He was the anchor of the Jax State offense and in the outfield for the Gamecocks as he finished the season ranked third in the ASUN in RBI (75) and among the league leaders in hits (76). He reached base in 30 ASUN games and every game but one this season.
JSU's centerfielder put together 24 games with multiple hits, including a four-hit game and five hits versus North Alabama in late April. Reeved tallied 11 multi-RBI ASUN games and 11 multi-hit outings against the league. He was named one of Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's National Player of the Week (May 15) after collecting 13 RBI and four home runs, including a pair of grand slams in a series sweep of Central Arkansas.
In his two seasons with the program, Reeves posted a career batting average of .332 with 132 career hits and 90 career RBI. He collected 21 doubles and 21 home runs in his two-year stint with the Gamecocks.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
