MURFREESBORO, TN. – Jacksonville State volleyball is geared up for a road CUSA matchup with the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Saturday and Sunday.
Jax State (7-12, 0-6) is coming off a pair of home battles with Kennesaw State on Tuesday and Wednesday. Middle Tennessee (6-12, 2-4) is coming off two losses to Western Kentucky Tuesday and Wednesday as well.
Against Kennesaw,
Kayla Williams led the Gamecocks with 29 kills on an average of 3.63 kills per set. Williams also had 14 digs, four blocks, and a pair of service aces against the Owls.
Hana Aiana's 14 and
Caty Havekost's 12 were the only other Gamecocks in double-digit kills.
Ellie Garrett had a solid couple games as she has for most of the season. She tallied 60 assists on an average of 7.50 per set. Garrett added nine digs, eight kills, eight blocks, and four aces.
Brooklyn Schiffli and
Luci Wilkinson also picked up with what they have done all season. Schiffli led Jax State in digs with 28, while Wilkinson added 22, respectively.
MTSU's squad includes preseason all-conference team member Adriana Rhoda. Rhoda is averaging 3.75 kills per set this year. The Blue Raiders also have one of the better freshmen in the conference. Setter Andi Spies has been CUSA Freshman of the Week three times thus far. Spies is averaging 9.19 assists per set and has 70 kills on the season.
