JACKSONVILLE—Following a two-week hiatus, the Jax State women's golf team returns to competition on Monday at Savannah Country Club for The Southern, hosted by Georgia Southern.
This will be the fifth tournament of the fall for the Gamecocks which posted a pair of third-place finishes after starting the season seventh at Clemson, and sixth most recently at the Pirate Collegiate in North Carolina.
The Pirate Collegiate was shortened to just 36 holes due to weather. Camp and Clausen tied for 13th in the field with a three-over total of 147.
Sophomore Rachel Camp leads Jax State in scoring through four tournaments with an average of 75.1. Her 17 birdies this season only trails Emilie Clausen who has 22 in 10 rounds. Camp, Clausen, and Ebby Somers have played in all four tournaments this season.
The field at Savannah Country Club will also include Augusta, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Dartmouth, FAU, High Point, Lipscomb, along with Division II Florida Southern, and NAIA member SCAD joining the hosts and the Gamecocks.
The course was designed by Donald Ross in 1927 and will play as a 6,036-yard, Par 72 for the tournament.
The first two rounds of the 54-hole event will take place on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday's final round will also be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
