BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Jacksonville State wrapped up its first weekend on the road in Conference USA play by gaining a point after a scoreless draw with Western Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at the WKU Soccer Complex.
The Gamecocks will enter the back half of the CUSA slate with four points after a win over Louisiana Tech last Sunday coupled with the road result. Jax State moved to 6-7-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in conference play. The Hilltoppers concluded the weekend at 3-6-2 on the season and 1-1-2 in CUSA matches. WKU recorded a draw with Kennesaw State last Thursday. It's the second consecutive year that the two clubs played a draw.
Jax State controlled the pace and had scoring chances, including a penalty kick opportunity in the second half, but WKU's goalkeeper Maddie Davis staved off the kick. WKU posted a 10-8 shot advantage in the match and had four corner kick chances.
"I thought we dominated the game in all the areas of the game and I thought the players were brave on the ball. The difference in the hame is the missed penalty, otherwise we win the game after a really good performance. We will take the one point and move on to next week," said head coach Sean Fraser.
