NCAA South Regional
Jax State gears up for another postseason race, this time, the NCAA South Regional hosted by Florida State. The Gamecocks men are coming off of a top-three placement in the Conference USA Championship while the Jax State women are also looking to carry some momentum from Choccolocco Park to Tallahassee.
CUSA Championships
The Jax State men turned in one of the best conference team finishes in program history, placing third in the Conference USA Championship at Choccolocco Park. The Gamecocks trailed just MTSU and Liberty on the men's side while the women placed sixth out of 10 teams and battled through the course prior to this week's regional.
Awards All Around
At the Conference USA Championship, Jax State picked up five All-Conference USA selections thanks to several impressive individual performances.
Dennis Kipkurui took home second team all-conference honors while
Jack Lowe,
Mark Roper,
Meshack Kosgei and
Bethelhem Manzano Jimeno were each named third team all-conference.
Gamecocks Ranked in South Region
For the second consecutive week, Jax State is ranked in the USTFCCCA South Region rankings. The Gamecocks earned the first in-season program ranking on Oct. 21 when they were tabbed No. 14 in the South Region and maintained the ranking in the Nov. 4 edition of the rankings.
A Familiar Course
Earlier this year Jax State got a preview of the NCAA South Regional course when it ran in the FSU Invitational hosted by Florida State at the same site. The Jax State men placed third out of 11 teams, trailing just Florida State and LSU while the women placed fifth out of 15 clubs present in Tallahassee.
What's Next?
If the Gamecocks are to advance past the South Regional, the NCAA Cross Country Championships are set to take place on Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis.
