Gamecocks Set to take on Mizzou on the Road

COLUMBIA, MO. – Jacksonville State's women's basketball squad is geared up for a showdown against Southeastern Conference foe Missouri in Columbia, Mo on Sunday afternoon. The Gamecocks are coming off a dominating 114-47 win over Sewanee on Monday, Nov. 25. The Tigers won their last game on Tuesday, Nov. 26, against Wichita State 85-57.

Jax State got a record setting 114-47 win at the Pete Mathews Coliseum over Sewanee on Nov. 25. The Gamecocks set a new record in made threes with 20 as a team. In the home win, six Gamecocks reached double-figures in scoring with Mya Barnes leading the way with 17.
Series History
The Gamecocks have never taken on Missouri in their program's history. However, Rick Pietri has faced 15th year Missouri head coach Robin Pingeton. During his time at South Alabama, Pietri's Jaguars traveled to Illinois State for a matchup against Pingeton and the Redbirds. That game resulted in a 57-50 Illinois State win.
Career Days
In the Gamecocks last game before a brief Thanksgiving break, three Jax State players scored career-highs. Clara Gonzalez Planella scored 16 points on 40% shooting from the field, Eden Sample scored 13 points also on 40% from the field, and Maria Sanchez Ponce had 13 points as well on 50% shooting from the field.
Super Seniors
Senior Shelton State transfer forwards Asia Barclay and Barnes have been magnificent in the young season for Jax State. Barnes is averaging 11.2 points on 51% from the field, and 55.6% from three. Barnes is also averaging 5.4 rebounds per game and has nine blocks and seven steals thus far. Barclay is averaging 10.4 points per contest on 77% shooting from the field. Barclay is averaging 6.6 rebounds per game and has five steals.

Jax State will have another road game on Saturday, Dec. 7, for a game against Coastal Carolina before returning home on Wednesday, Dec. 11, to take on College of Charleston.
