Jax State Women to take on Utah Valley on the Road

OREM, Utah – Jacksonville State's women's basketball team has made the trek to Orem, Utah, to face the Utah Valley Wolverines on Monday at 7:00 p.m. CT (6 p.m. MT). The Gamecocks are coming off a 47-66 home loss to College of Charleston on Wednesday, Dec. 11. BYU handled the Wolverines in their last action in a 76-36 game on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Monday's game against the Wolverines will be the fourth meeting between the two programs. Jax State holds a 2-1 series lead over Utah Valley. Utah Valley took the first matchup back on Nov. 27, 2004, in a 67-43 game. Jax State has a two-game win streak over the Wolverines and won the last meeting on Nov. 18, 2005, 84-77.
Returning to the Beehive State
Jax State's matchup against Utah Valley will mark the second year the Gamecocks have traveled to Utah. Last season, the Gamecocks visited Utah Tech where they fell 58-73. The CUSA/WAC Scheduling Agreement has led to two games in the Beehive State for the Gamecocks. Jax State won their first CUSA/WAC Challenge matchup this year when they downed Southern Utah 77-58 inside the Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Bre'Anna Rhodes is averaging the most points per game at 8.6 as of this point in the year. Rhodes is also averaging the most rebounds per contest, pulling down an average of 6.3 boards. Mya Barnes is the second leading scorer averaging 8.1 per game. Barnes leads the Gamecocks in blocks, 12 total, and steals, 12 total. Elsie Harris is leading the way in assists with 23 total for an average of 2.9 per game.
