Gamecocks Ready for Home Stand Against New Orleans

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Jacksonville State returns home Friday to take on the New Orleans Privateers at 4:30 p.m. The Gamecocks are coming off a 45-49 loss to Utah Valley on Dec. 16, while New Orleans is coming off a 60-66 loss at UAH on Dec. 18.

Friday's game against the Privateers marks the sixth time New Orleans and Jax State have faced. As it stands, the Gamecocks hold a 4-1 all-time record over the Privateers. The first time the teams' met was on Nov. 23, 2013, at New Orleans and resulted in a 54-51 Jax State win. The most recent matchup came on Dec. 5, 2020, at the Pete when the Gamecocks claimed a 72-55 win.
Clara's Day
Even in the loss at Utah Valley, Clara Gonzalez Planella set a new career-high with 19 points. She also made six field goals and four threes which are also new career highs. Planella added another career-high of six rebounds in the loss.
Gamecocks Statistical Leaders
Former high school teammates Bre'Anna Rhodes and Mya Barnes are leading the Gamecocks in scoring thus far. Barnes is averaging 8.2 points per game and Rhodes is averaging 7.9, respectively. Rhodes is averaging 5.7 rebounds per game which is also a team-best. Elsie Harris is averaging 2.67 assists per game which leads the team.

After a bit of a break, Jax State returns home to face Life University on Dec. 30 at 4:30 p.m. The game will be the final nonconference matchup of the season for Jax State.
